The scripture was a big deal to Jesus. He was continually quoting them, always pointing to them and on the Sermon on The Mount he teaches his apprentices how to read them. On Sunday we looked at a crucial passage of scripture where Jesus teaches us the best way to read our Bible. The best way to read the Bible according to Jesus in the Sermon on The Mount (Matthew 5:17-20). 1. Live in the reality that Jesus is the centre of the story (vs 17) 2. Follow Jesus's interpretation of the scripture (vs 18) 3. Practice and teach what Jesus teaches (vs 19) 4. Let the scripture lead you to a life that is permeated in God's call to live right
It’s Thanksgiving! Join us this Sunday as we gather as a church family for music, teaching, kids and youth programs and communion together. It is going to be a fantastic morning together as we continue to journey through the Sermon on The Mount. This Sunday we are gathering together for music, teaching, kids + youth programs and communion together! Our pre-school kids are learning about Joseph from the Old Testament, our elementary kids are in a series called Be Generous, our Jr. High community is in week 3 of the Youth Alpha Film Series, and our adults continue to walk through the Sermon on The Mount! Join us on the 3rd Floor of Goodwill Industries at 10am for pre-gathering prayer and 10.30am for our gathering.
