Advent Consiracy

Can Christmas Still Change The World?

The Christmas story is a story of love, hope, redemption and relationship. So, what happened? How did it turn into stuff, stress and debt? Somehow, we’ve traded the best story in the world for the story of what’s on sale.

Advent Conspiracy is a global movement of people and churches resisting the cultural Christmas narrative of consumption by choosing a revolutionary Christmas through Worshipping Fully, Spending Less, Giving More and Loving All.

Worship Fully

It starts with Jesus. It ends with Jesus. This is the holistic approach God had in mind for Christmas. It’s a season where we are called to put down our burdens and lift a song up to our God. It’s a season where love wins, peace reigns, and a king is celebrated with each breath. It’s the party of the year. Entering the story of advent means entering this season with an overwhelming passion to worship Jesus to the fullest.

Spend Less

Quick question for you: What was the one gift you remember getting for Christmas last year? Next question: What about the fourth gift? Do you remember that one? Truth is many of us don’t because it wasn’t something we necessarily wanted or needed. Spending Less isn’t a call to stop giving gifts; it’s a call to stop spending money on gifts we won’t remember in less than a year.

Give More

We know what you’re thinking. “Wait, didn’t they just say I should spend less, and yet here they are telling me to give more? What gives?” The most powerful, memorable gift you can give to someone else is yourself. And nobody modeled this more than Jesus. So what does this look like for you? Tickets to a ball game or the theater? A movie night? The main point is simple: When it comes to spending time with those you love, it’s all about quality, not quantity.

Love All

It all boils down to love. Love from a savior. Love to a neighbor in need. By spending just a little less on gifts we free up our resources to love as Jesus loves by giving to those who really need help. This is the conspiracy three churches began a few years ago, and has since grown to an international movement where thousands of churches have raised millions of dollars to love others in life-changing ways. It’s not that there’s something wrong with the shopping mall—it’s that the better story is about loving all.

Celebrate With Family

We had a fantastic time at Celebrate With Family. Here is a picture of some of our skaters!

We also wanted to say thanks to those who skated and didn't get in the picture and thanks to those who didn't skate but came and hung out with the church family!

Christmas Giving 2014

Through our series Advent Conspiracy we are encouraging our community to give to different initiatives that help bring the gospel + justice to people around the world.

Here are a few things we encourage you to support this Christmas:

Chad + Ashley McCarthy (Cambodia)

Last year we had the amazing privilege of sending some of our great friends to Cambodia to be Global Workers with the PAOC. Chad and Ashley McCarthy and their family moved in November 2013 and are now living in Phnom Penh. There they are serving local ministries, learning the language and immersing themselves in Cambodian culture.
You can support Chad + Ashley this Christmas by HERE and following the links to support them by giving online through the PAOC.

City View Church (General Budget)

We also confidently ask you this Christmas to give to the weekly operating budget of our church. Why can we ask this confidently?  Because our church is a mission right here in our city!
We encourage you to help us this Christmas finish off the year strong by reaching our annual budget of $68,500. You can give live at our Sunday gatherings, through EFT (automatic withdraw) or online by clicking to give online by clicking HERE.

Mission Possible (Sponsorship)

We also partner with a great organization called Mission Possible that sponsors children in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Maybe this is your season to sponsor a child. For $30 a month you can sponsor a child that will give food, clothing and Christian education to the future leaders of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
You can sponsor a child by filling out the paper work at our info table. You can also make a one-time donation to Mission Possible this Christmas by going HERE and following the links to give online.

AdventConspiracy.org

We also encourage you to join in with hundreds of churches and thousands of Jesus followers by giving to two distinct projects that Advent Conspiracy is involved with.
Go to www.adventconspiracy.org to give to an organization called Living Water that helps builds wells around the world and an organization called International Justice Mission that helps free people caught in the sex trade world wide.
